Chapter four : A Restless Heart

Apollo's attempt to embrace the bond he shared with Hades had proven easier said than done. Despite his best efforts to distract himself, he couldn't help but be consumed by thoughts of Hades. It seemed as though Hades had become a haunting presence in Apollo's mind.

Day and night, Apollo found himself wondering what Hades was doing, who he was with, and if their connection with Persephone was growing stronger. The more Apollo tried to push these thoughts away, the more they persisted, tormenting him at every turn.

His feelings for Hades continued to grow, intensifying with each passing day. The love that had once been veiled in jealousy now revealed itself as a deep affection and desire. It scared Apollo, this newfound emotional vulnerability that he experienced in the presence of his brother.

Unable to bear the restlessness any longer, Apollo made a conscious decision to distance himself from Hades. He avoided their usual gatherings on Mount Olympus and made excuses whenever possible to avoid spending time together. He hoped that by keeping his distance from Hades, these tumultuous feelings would fade away.

But no matter how hard he tried to convince himself otherwise, Apollo couldn't deny the truth - he missed Hades terribly. The absence of their companionship left an emptiness within him that no amount of distractions or diversions could fill.

In his solitude, Apollo found solace in music more than ever before. He poured his heart into every note that resonated from his golden lyre - melodies filled with longing and desire flowed effortlessly from his fingertips. Through music, he expressed the depth of his emotions and bared his soul for all to hear.

One evening, as Apollo played a particularly melancholic tune on the shores of a tranquil lake on Mount Olympus, he felt a familiar presence nearby. He turned around to find Hades standing there silently, observing him with a mix of concern and understanding in his eyes.

"You've been avoiding me," Hades stated softly, his voice filled with a hint of resignation.

Apollo's heart skipped a beat, realizing that he couldn't escape the truth any longer. "I...I'm sorry," he stuttered, finally allowing himself to be vulnerable in front of Hades. "I didn't know how to handle these feelings. I thought avoiding you would make them go away."

Hades took a step closer, his gaze steady. "Running away from our connection won't make it disappear, Apollo," he said gently. "Our bond as lovers is strong; it cannot be severed by mere avoidance."

Apollo looked into Hades' eyes and saw not judgment or mockery but compassion and acceptance. In that moment, he knew he could no longer deny what his heart truly desired.

With a renewed sense of courage, Apollo took a step toward Hades, closing the distance between them. "I don't want to run anymore," he confessed, his voice filled with sincerity. "The more I avoided you, the more I realized how much I missed you."

A small smile tugged at the corners of Hades' lips as he reached out to gently touch Apollo's hand. "I missed you too," he whispered, warmth and affection evident in his voice.
